Hutto Boards and Commissions

Want to have a direct impact on the future of Hutto? One of the best ways to serve your community is by volunteering on a city board or commission.

Boards and commissions are made up of Hutto residents who help review issues, provide recommendations, and advise City Council on topics ranging from parks and libraries to zoning and historic preservation. While these groups do not typically make final decisions, they play an important role in shaping policies and projects that affect daily life in our growing community.

Some of the boards and commissions serving Hutto include:

  • Building & Standards Commission

  • Economic Development Corporation Board (EDC)

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Commission

  • Ethics Review Commission

  • Planning & Zoning Commission

  • Parks Advisory Board

  • Library Advisory Board

  • Historic Preservation Commission

  • Zoning Board of Adjustment

  • Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) Boards

Each board has a unique purpose. For example, the Planning & Zoning Commission reviews zoning requests, development plans, and land use matters before making recommendations to City Council. The Parks Advisory Board helps evaluate parks, trails, and recreational facilities, while the Historic Preservation Commission works to protect and celebrate Hutto's history.

Here's how the boards and commissions are currently made up (as of 6/10/26). *All descriptions come from the City of Hutto website for accuracy.:

If you've ever wondered how to move beyond attending meetings and become directly involved in shaping Hutto's future, serving on a board or commission may be the perfect place to start. Learn more and apply through the City of Hutto's Boards and Commissions webpage.
