From rockets and advanced manufacturing to puppies, pizza and property taxes, Hutto packed plenty of news into the first 20 days of August 2026.

The biggest headline was Blue Origin’s potential arrival in Hutto, a project that could create as many as 2,000 jobs. The city also welcomed a major manufacturing headquarters, a puppy-wellness studio and a new fiber-arts business while moving forward with downtown improvements, school projects and several anticipated restaurants.
Here is a roundup of publicly reported and officially announced Hutto news from August 1 through August 20, 2026.
Editor’s note: This roundup includes publicly available stories, government announcements, business releases and verifiable public social-media posts located as of August 20, 2026. “Coming soon” timelines are subject to permits, construction, leasing and the occasional mysterious delay known only to contractors and the universe.
Blue Origin Could Bring a $674 Million Facility and 2,000 Jobs to Hutto
The month’s biggest economic-development story arrived in two stages.
On August 6, the Hutto City Council and Hutto Economic Development Corporation approved incentive agreements connected to “Project Blue Hub,” which local reporting identified as a potential Blue Origin project.
On August 20, Williamson County commissioners unanimously approved an economic-development agreement supporting Blue Origin’s possible selection of a site along Innovation Boulevard in Hutto. According to county documents, the aerospace and defense project could include approximately one million square feet of industrial and research space within Hutto Crossing. The proposed facility represents an estimated $674 million investment and could create as many as 2,000 jobs over 10 years.
If completed, Blue Origin could become Hutto’s largest employer. The company has also committed to working with Hutto ISD on paid high-school internships and Career and Technical Education opportunities. However, the project is not final. State approval is still required, and Blue Origin must formally commit to the Hutto site. Officials said Hutto is the only Texas location currently under consideration. Community Impact, Taylor Press

The company expects its first system to enter production in September 2026 and plans to employ approximately 200 to 300 full-time workers by 2028. Residents should remember that the publication of a proposed or calculated rate does not necessarily mean that it will become the final adopted rate. City of Hutto

Hutto ISD Receives a “C” Accountability Rating
The Texas Education Agency released its 2025–26 accountability ratings on August 14. Hutto ISD received an overall score of 75, maintaining a “C” rating for the fourth consecutive year. Thirteen district campuses received “C” ratings, while Howard Norman Elementary received a “D.” Five campuses dropped by at least one letter grade.
The district did not have a campus with consecutive low ratings requiring a state-mandated turnaround plan. Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin said the district expects future improvement, particularly as newer college, career and military readiness data becomes part of the accountability calculation. She said preliminary data connected to the Class of 2026 could support a future “B” rating. Community Impact

The restriction affects the Hutto area, and violations may result in fines. Residents should check the county’s current status before conducting any outdoor burning. Williamson County

A Buffalo Wild Wings location remains in development along Muirfield Bend Drive in the Star Ranch area. Hutto Justice Center Bond Proposal
Hutto continues preparing for a potential $42 million Justice Center bond.

What August’s News Says About Hutto’s Direction
The first 20 days of August made one thing clear: Hutto’s growth is entering a new phase.
Restaurants and small businesses are still important, but the city is increasingly competing for large-scale aerospace, advanced-manufacturing and technology investments. Blue Origin and AI Prefab Solutions could bring hundreds, or potentially thousands, of higher-paying jobs to the area.
That opportunity also comes with pressure. More development means Hutto must continue addressing roads, schools, emergency services, water capacity, public safety and responsible tax planning. In other words, Hutto is no longer simply waiting for growth to arrive. Growth is already sitting in traffic on US 79, checking its permits and asking when the restaurant will open.
