How did your journey as a business owner begin? What inspired you to get started?
Since I was young I always enjoyed working with my hands and using that creative process. I started off as an apprentice, and after a couple years of that I was eager to get out on my own and start my own business helping my community.
How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base?
In total I have been doing business for over 15 years, me and my family have been in Hutto for the last five years. We love this small town and its people, it has been a pleasure to work in such a great and supportive community. Our business has been built on word of mouth and making solid connections with our customers. We’ve found great success doing just that here in Hutto and we are grateful for the business.
What’s been one of your most memorable moments as a business owner?
I’d have to say my favorite job was being able to make a customize ramp up into a doggy door for a very sweet, old dog who was having trouble getting in and out to the back patio. I enjoy using my creativity to come up with custom solutions for my customers, human and animal.
What do you think makes the Hutto community special?
I love the blend of the old downtown western feel, paired with a diverse community of people from all over coming together to support our little town. From the youngest members to the elderly in our community, there is a place and event for everyone to come together and enjoy, whether it be a fun school sporting event (go Hippos!), the Co-op, Hutto Old Tyme Days, or the Christmas Tree Lighting.
What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here?
Be in the community, emerge yourself in its culture and make connections. Showing up for your community and earning their trust is essential for having a successful business and meeting your customers needs.
When you're not working, where can we find you around town? (Favorite coffee, food, or hangout spots?)
You’ll often find me and my family at fun social spots like Top Notch or Casa Jalisco in the Co-op to eat and play, getting a treat at our Dairy Queen, or down by the creek to soak up some sun in nature. I also enjoy golfing with my buddies at one of our local golf courses.
Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about?
We have exciting custom wood work and other projects coming up that we are happy to share with the community, you can follow along with us on Instagram and Facebook to see what we do!
