McAlister's in Hutto is Finally Open

Hutto residents have officially entered their “sweet tea and giant spud” era.

After what felt like one of the longest “coming soon” restaurant sagas in town history, McAlister's Deli has finally opened its doors in Hutto, and honestly, people have been waiting forever for this one.

Located on Food Row at 110 Chris Kelley Blvd., the popular fast-casual deli officially opened in May 2026 after years of delays, construction updates, rumors, and “is it actually happening this time?” moments.

The Restaurant Hutto Thought Might Never Open

If you’ve lived in Hutto for a while, you probably remember seeing:

  • construction updates

  • opening date rumors

  • social media speculation

  • “coming soon” signs

  • more waiting

  • and then … even more waiting

At one point, project filings tied to the Hutto location dated all the way back to 2022.

The opening date shifted multiple times over the years, becoming somewhat of a local running joke online. But now? It’s finally real.

And yes, the sweet tea is flowing.

What’s on the Menu?

For anyone unfamiliar with McAlister’s, the chain is known for:

  • oversized deli sandwiches

  • baked potatoes (“spuds”)

  • soups

  • salads

  • giant cookies

  • and their famous sweet tea

The Hutto location also offers dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering options.

Grand Opening Perks

To celebrate the launch, the restaurant announced giveaways and special events for the community, including free sandwiches for a year for the first 100 guests during the grand opening festivities. They also hosted appreciation meals for first responders, teachers, military members, veterans, and healthcare workers.

Honestly? That’s a pretty solid way to introduce yourself to Hutto.

Why This Opening Matters

This may sound dramatic for a sandwich shop, but longtime Hutto residents know this opening represents something bigger: growth.

Hutto continues adding new restaurants, retail, and development projects as the city expands rapidly. And while residents love the small-town feel, many have also wanted more dining options closer to home instead of constantly driving to Round Rock, Georgetown, or Pflugerville.

The arrival of McAlister's Deli is another sign that national brands are paying attention to Hutto’s growth.

And let’s be honest … residents get very emotionally invested when a restaurant announcement drags on for four years.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re there for:

  • the sweet tea,

  • a loaded baked potato,

  • a quick lunch,

  • or simply to confirm the building is finally open with your own eyes…

McAlister's Deli is officially part of the Hutto food scene.

Now the real question is: What will Hutto collectively obsess over waiting for next?
