Christmas Scavenger Hunt: "Holiday Hunt-a-Claus"

Updated: Dec 8, 2024

This fun game is perfect for all ages and can be played at home or at a holiday party. Players search for hidden Christmas-themed items based on clever riddles and clues.

What You’ll Need:

  • A list of Christmas-themed items (e.g., candy canes, ornaments, small gifts, Christmas socks, Santa hat, etc.).

  • Clue cards with riddles or instructions.

  • A timer (optional).

  • A small prize for the winner (optional).

Setup Instructions:

  1. Choose 10-15 Christmas-themed items to hide around the house or venue.

  2. Write riddles or clues leading to each item. Example:

    • For a hidden candy cane in the fridge:

"Sweet and minty, you’ll need a coat. Find me somewhere that keeps things cold."

  3. Place each item in its hiding spot, ensuring the clues are connected sequentially or independently based on your preference.

  4. Print or write out the clues and keep them organized for each participant/team.

How to Play:

  1. Divide into Teams or Play Individually: Players can compete solo or in teams of 2-4.

  2. Start the Hunt: Hand the first clue to each team or player. Alternatively, announce a general riddle that leads to the first item.

  3. Find the Items: Each clue leads to a hidden item, and players must find it before proceeding to the next clue.

  4. Optional Challenge: Include small tasks at certain checkpoints (e.g., sing a Christmas carol, tell a Christmas joke, or do a silly dance) before revealing the next clue.

  5. Winning the Game: The first player or team to find all the items and return to the starting point wins!

Tips for Making It Extra Festive:

  • Use holiday decorations as part of the hiding spots.

  • Add bonus points for creativity, such as extra tasks or Christmas trivia questions between clues.

  • Give out small prizes for everyone, like candy canes or ornaments, so everyone leaves with a smile.

Enjoy spreading holiday cheer with this playful Christmas scavenger hunt!
