My name is Katrina Gaidry, and while I am not a business owner, I am the primary Sales Consultant for our Emory Crossing community. I started my journey in real estate working at a mortgage loan office, then moved to real estate, and found my niche in new construction homes. Working at the loan office, I realized I wanted to be personally in contact with homebuyers, helping them through the journey of buying their home. I wanted a world beyond crunching numbers, but helping show homes & being there for people every step of the way. How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base? David Weekley Homes has been in business 49 years (1976) and started in Austin during the 80's. As for myself, I have been in the real estate industry the last 4 years. I love working out of Hutto because there's lots of space, countryside, and potential. It reminds me of the quiet Central TX hill country I grew up in. The sunsets are also beautiful! Whatâs been one of your most memorable moments as a business owner? My most memorable moments every day are getting to walk by our homeowners, say hi to their families and dogs, and get to be a part of our tight-knit community. What do you think makes the Hutto community special? It's like city living in the quiet countryside. There's plenty of convenient places to shop, eat, and get groceries, and you're usually just 30 minutes away via toll form any part of Austin. While growing, it is not as developed as the inner city, so it still feels smaller and tight knit. What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here? Join networking groups & meet as many people as you can! When you're not working, where can we find you around town? (Favorite coffee, food, or hangout spots?) I love Lamp Post Coffee in downtown Hutto. Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about? We have our LAST phase of townhomes, which are the only townhomes in Hutto. - Business Spotlight: Your âLocal & Nerdyâ Real Estate Team
When it comes to real estate in Hutto and beyond, no one blends heart, hustle, and hometown pride quite like William and Justine, the husband-and-wife duo behind the Local & Nerdy Real Estate Team . Serving Austin and surrounding areas, their approach is rooted in authenticity, community, and purpose. âThis isnât just a job for us,â Justine explains. âItâs a mission. We help people navigate major life transitions, whether theyâre buying their first home, selling their last, or somewhere in between.â What makes them unique? Itâs more than their tech-savvy tools or full-time commitment. Itâs the way they show up. With real strategy, empathy, and a deep knowledge of the local market, they walk clients through every step, making the process feel doable, not daunting. Tell us a little about your business. What do you offer, and what makes it unique? Weâre your âLocal & Nerdyâ real estate team, serving Austin and the surrounding areas with authenticity, energy, and a heart for community. This isnât just a job for us, itâs a full-time mission to help others reach their goals, whether thatâs finding the perfect home, selling with confidence, or just navigating life transitions with support. What makes us different? Weâre in it every day, staying current on the market, showing up for our clients, and staying involved in the community we love. We lead with service, not sales, and we believe real estate is about more than just property, itâs about people, relationships, and being a guide when it matters most. How did your journey as a business owner begin? What inspired you to get started? Neither of us originally saw real estate as part of our career path, but we truly believe it was divine intervention. William spent over 15 years in tech, and I (Justine) worked more than a decade in healthcare and senior services. While our careers looked different on paper, both were deeply rooted in creating creative solutions and serving others. In 2020, a behind-the-scenes administrative role opened the door to something more personal and purposeful: the chance to walk alongside people during one of lifeâs biggest transitions. Real estate gave us a way to combine our unique skills and truly connect with others, helping people achieve what they once thought was impossible. Everyone remembers when they move and what was happening in their life at that moment. To be invited into that chapter and trusted to guide the process has been an incredible honor. Over the past few years, we felt called to join forces and build something together. By balancing our strengths, weâre able to give our full energy, attention, and heart to the people and communities we serve. Real estate became more than a profession, it became our purpose. How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base? Weâve been in real estate for over five years and have proudly called Hutto home for over six. When we were searching for our own home, we kept finding our way back to Hutto, it just felt right. We fell in love with the little hippo statues around town, the peaceful cornfields, and the small-town charm that made everything feel a bit more personal. Thereâs something special about this place. Itâs not just where we live, itâs where we truly belong. Whatâs been one of your most memorable moments as business owners? One of our most memorable moments was helping our very first client together as a true team. In the beginning, we were working in real estate separately, each handling different aspects. But when we officially joined forces from start to finish, it felt like magic. We immediately saw how our strengths and weaknesses balanced each other out, and how much more powerful we were as a duo. Having two agents in your corner means more than just extra support, it brings different perspectives, seamless collaboration, and a level of care that truly makes a difference. That first shared experience reminded us why we chose this path, and just how much better we are together. What do you think makes the Hutto community special? What makes Hutto special is its people. The community here is always ready to support one another, whether itâs lending a hand during the 'snowpocalypse' of 2021 or simply having a friendly chat around town. Through our connections with the Hutto Chamber, the City of Hutto, and local businesses, weâve built real relationships that reflect the genuine, down-to-earth nature of this town. It's easy to see that people truly care about each other and are always willing to show up and help when it counts. Itâs the kind of community you want to be a part of, and weâre proud to call it home. What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here? Get involved early. Join the Chamber, attend the events, support other local businesses, and say yes to the invite, even if you donât know anyone yet. Hutto thrives on relationships, not just referrals. The more you pour into the community, the more it pours back into you. When you're not working, where can we find you around town? You may catch us at the farmers market or a local event. We enjoy volunteering with the Hutto Resource Center, grabbing coffee at Dutch Bros, or having a bite at Chopsticks. You can also find us at church, we just like being out and about in the community. Staying connected and supporting local businesses is important to us, and we make it a point to do so whenever we can. Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about? Weâre actively involved in planning local events and fundraisers. Plus weâre expanding into commercial real estate to better serve our community. Weâre passionate about educating others, especially when it comes to busting common myths about buying a home or the stress of selling. We offer free consultations to walk clients through the process, helping them understand how we guide them step-by-step, making the experience feel smooth and manageable, rather than overwhelming. We have service providers who bring cash into the business, others who improve operations, and others who reduce expenses. What makes us unique are the unusual services and our focus on improving your cash flow. How did your journey as a business owner begin? What inspired you to get started? I've been in business several times before. From MLMs to an insurance agency, I enjoy the challenge of building a company. Around 12 years ago, I entered the insurance industry. I learned very quickly that while I excelled at sales, I sucked at marketing. I closed that business after 2 years of struggling, and I was hired at Dell Technologies. I moved to Hutto in 2015 to work for Dell, and while I was there, I took several marketing and leadership courses to fill in the skill gap I identified. When I started assembling the pieces for a new business, I wanted to be in the marketing industry, not a marketing agency. In my Bible study, I was impacted by Philippians 2:4, "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." ESV. I knew my new company would support other businesses in some way. Helping businesses thrive not only helps business owners and CEOs but also helps employees and customers. How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base? My company runs out of our home and we've lived here for 10 years. We love Hutto, and I love being involved with the community. I launched the business initially in early 2022 while still at Dell, but after a layoff in August 2022 and some feedback from early clients, I relaunched in November 2023. We've been fully operational for 15 months. Whatâs been one of your most memorable moments as a business owner? We have several impactful solutions on the marketplace, but early on we found a unique service provider that offers huge returns for no upfront cost. Businesses love that prospect, and several clients will see nearly 6-figure deposits this year. What do you think makes the Hutto community special? My wife, Katrina, found Hutto around 18 years ago, driving from RR to Taylor. The next year, she drove through Hutto again and came home saying that if we ever moved to the Austin area, we should consider Hutto. She loved the small-town vibe. Moving to Austin wasn't on our radar at the time. Years later, when I was hired at Dell, we chose Hutto. I grew up in small towns north of Waco and went to school in West, TX - another small farming community. Hutto reminds me of West in several ways. Moving to Hutto felt like moving home. What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here? âPeople tend to overestimate what can be done in one year and to underestimate what can be done in five or ten years.â Building a business is a long-term game. Don't get caught up in "get-rich-quick" schemes. Another quote I heard recently applies to Christian entrepreneurs: "You don't grind your way into fruitfulness. You abide your way into overflow." Hustle Culture has greatly misled Christian entrepreneurs. We are called to be different. We aren't supposed to chase wealth, but rather we're to have a singular focus on our relationship with God. Don't sacrifice time in prayer and bible study to pursue business success. Spend time with Him and allow Him to bless you and your business. When you're not working, where can we find you around town? (Favorite coffee, food, or hangout spots?) My favorite office away from home is Lamppost Coffee on East St. I also love Baked 'n Sconed sandwiches. On Sundays, you can find me at Hutto Community Church. Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about? Most services offered on SRH Business Resource Marketplace are for businesses only. However, a few are available for families, too. The service I'm most excited about helps families get out of debt. This exciting service is already helping thousands of families and employers love seeing improved focus at work, lower absenteeism and attrition, and reduced workplace accidents. The joy of bringing people together over unique drinks and the positive feedback we received inspired us. - Best of Hutto Spotlight: The Digital Marketing Agency Thatâs Putting Local Businesses on the Map (Literally and Virtually)
Letâs talk about leads, websites, and... pie? This award-winning digital marketing agency offers everything from website design and SEO to Google and Facebook ads. But what truly sets them apart isnât just the list of services, itâs the honesty . A Business Built on Strategy, Service, and Straight Talk âWe build custom marketing plans tailored to your exact industry, location, and budget,â the owner explains. âAnd sometimes, we talk people out  of certain services if we know they wonât give them the ROI theyâre looking for.â In an industry where upselling is the norm, that kind of integrity is rare, and refreshing. bluegoatmarketing.com We asked each Best of Hutto winner to answer a few questions so that the community could get to know them better. Here's what Blue Goat Marketing had to say: Tell us a little about your business. What do you offer, and what makes it unique? I own a digital marketing agency that offers lead generation services such as website design, SEO, Google Ads, Facebook ads, etc to businesses looking for more calls and leads. What makes us unique is that we spend time with every person putting together a custom marketing plan that fits their exact industry, location, and budget. We actually steer business owners away from most of our services if we feel it won't get them the best ROI in their industry. How did your journey as a business owner begin? What inspired you to get started? Always loved businesses but was taught to find security in a salary somewhere. It wasn't until my late 20's that I had started a successful pie shop in South Texas where I learned to love marketing and sales. After selling that cafe, I knew I wanted to get into marketing which led to us launching this agency almost 10 years ago. How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base? We launched in 2016 while living in McAllen TX. Because the business was remote, we have the rare opportunity to live wherever we wanted. We love the Lord and prayed that he would take us where we could be connected to a local church and serve there. After looking across the country, we moved to round rock and then finally built a house here in Hutto in 2021 so we could be near Hutto Bible Church. Wonderful decision. Whatâs been one of your most memorable moments as a business owner? Teaching my son how to make websites so he could start working with me and learn business practices. What do you think makes the Hutto community special? You have the closeness of a major city with the culture of a small rural town. It has the best of both worlds. What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here? I coach other marketing agency owners and tell them all the time that you must get good at sales and lead generation. Once you master those, you can launch anything you want. For Hutto businesses specifically, give more than you take. Be the owner that everyone wants to work with because you give your expertise, wisdom, and services generously. When you're not working, where can we find you around town? (Favorite coffee, food, or hangout spots?) Any of the Mexican restaurants! We love Casa Jaliscos, Rio Grande, and now Chuys. Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about? We're offering a complimentary Cancun or Vegas resort stay for anyone who signs up with us for ANY service and if they mention that they saw this, we'll throw in a $100 restaurant card!
