Tell us a little about your business. What do you offer, and what makes it unique?
My name is Anna Maria, and I’m the owner of Amore Vacations, LLC, based right here in Hutto. I specialize in vacation planning services designed to take the stress out of travel, so you can simply enjoy the journey. Whether it’s a family getaway to an all-inclusive beach resort, a romantic anniversary escape to Paris, or a multigenerational adventure through Italy, I’m here to help make it seamless and unforgettable. The possibilities are truly endless!
How did your journey as a business owner begin? What inspired you to get started?
I began my career as a travel agent when my children were young, looking for a flexible schedule that allowed me to balance work and family life. I spent several years with a large vacation planning company, where I gained valuable experience—but I soon realized I wanted more control over the clients I served and the destinations I could offer. That realization led me to start my own business, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base?
I’ve been a travel agent for 14 years, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey—though I’ll admit, the COVID years were a bit of a challenge! We moved to Hutto three years ago from South Carolina when my husband accepted a position as a professor at the University of Texas. We chose Hutto because we were drawn to the charm of a smaller city, away from the hustle and bustle of Austin, yet close enough to enjoy everything it has to offer. It’s been the perfect fit!
What’s been one of your most memorable moments as a business owner?
I’ve been fortunate to experience many memorable moments as a travel agent, but one that stands out involves a recent client who took her children and grandchildren on a family vacation to Italy. Their family had ancestral roots there and wanted to explore the country together for the first time. Coordinating travel for such a large group was no small feat, but everything came together beautifully. When she returned, she called to share how meaningful the trip had been—the memories they created, the joy of discovering Italy together, and the special bond of having three generations experience it side by side. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.
What do you think makes the Hutto community special?
I believe Hutto is a special community because, even as it continues to grow each year, it still maintains that welcoming small-town feel. The people here are friendly, supportive, and always willing to lend a hand. I’m also proud to serve as a board member of the Hutto Resource Center, where I have the opportunity to give back and stay actively involved in the community.
What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here?
Get involved! Join the chamber, engage with the community, and take the time to meet new people. Building connections and getting to know those around you is one of the most valuable things you can do—it truly makes a difference, both personally and professionally.
When you're not working, where can we find you around town? (Favorite coffee, food, or hangout spots?)
When I'm not working, I'm usually on my back porch reading a book. But if you are looking for me around town, you can find me at Chuy's or Lamppost Coffee.
Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about?
I’m currently organizing several group river cruises in Europe for next year, and I’d love for more people to join us! If you’ve never experienced a river cruise, it’s a fantastic way to explore Europe. These intimate ships, usually accommodating around 175 passengers, offer a unique opportunity to visit charming towns and cities each day, without the hassle of constantly packing and unpacking. You settle in once, but get to immerse yourself in a variety of cultures along the way. It’s truly one of my favorite ways to travel!
